December08-Reduce Reuse Recycle

Page history last edited by PBworks 3 years, 5 months ago

Can Recycle:

- Milk jugs & pop bottles (keep caps on)

- Glass (keep lids on)

- Egg Cartons (paper & plastic only)

- Paper products (everything but wrapping paper & gift bags.  You can even recylce coffee cups)

- Cans:  Soup & pop cans (Only 1/2 the cans sold in Winnipeg are recycled; we can do better than that.  Collect tabs and bring them to the school; they will be used to make wheelchairs)

- Plastic Containers (marked with recycling triangle)

Cannot Recycle:

- Plastic Bags (some grocery stores will recycle bags.  Tie plastic bags in a know before throwing them out.  Reuse and refuse bags)

- Styrofoam (choose products not packaged in styrofoam.  Save clean styrofoam for art projects)

- Clothing (reuse clothing by donating to various organizations)

- Wrapping paper (be creative!  Use old comics, maps, sheet music, old fabric, newspapers, and posters to wrap your gifts)

- Gift Bags (Use biodegradable alternatives and reuse as often as possible)

- Anything not marked with the recycling triangle.

We would like to thank our presenter, Mary Melnychuk from Resource Conservation Manitoba for providing us with information on how to help the environment.
